Dear Fellow Elders,
Thomas Jefferson once wrote about"a fire bell in the night that awakened me and filled me with terror." That was 1820 -- an early premonition of the Civil War that would erupt forty years later. There's another fire bell ringing in our own night in 2025, and we better take heed, for we are in grave danger of losing our democracy. It is what one elder calls "the big collapse."
Antidotes to Our Imminent Danger and Our Call to Action.
The Catalyst. By being introduced to the stories of successful changemakers -- especially the ingenious ways they approach intractable problems -- we, too, can accomplish what we never could have dreamed on our own.
Our Differentiator. To mobilize for a more hopeful future we call upon two under-utilized powers:

Antidotes to Our Imminent Danger and Our Call to Action.
- Taking action in our own communities -- engaging in service projects that open us up to a more hopeful future -- like the future health of our planet and the future well-being of our children.
- Political action -- whatever form that may take.

Our Differentiator. To mobilize for a more hopeful future we call upon two under-utilized powers:
- The convening powers of elders -- to engage youth, mid-lifers and other elders of differing persuasions across the political spectrum.
- And the methods of professional social entrepreneurs -- to supply us with inspiration and time-tested methods captured in a new way of seeing and the physics of change.
